Once a place so long ago
Held a field of flowers I tell you so
Legendary beauty you'd have to see
If you truly want to believe me
Among this field of flowers the softest one
Held her petals high in the setting sun
A gentle beauty beyond words
Set upon by the foulest birds
A traveler came by and left
And in his passing oh she wept
Her petals drooped threatening to fall
When someone covered her in metal over all
Stuck in her position the call rang out
Light them all on fire that's what we're about
The traveler came back to light the field
A gentle breeze left her to flames to yield
Hardened metal kept her there to stay
While the green of her leaves burned away
Leaving the flower to ask why
While the other flowers ashes joined the sky
And though they tried to burn her too
The metal simply hardened forged anew
Denied her right to join her kin
She took up her petals as blades so thin
Traveler was no such match
Not expecting her to rise to scratch
He plucked at her petals each he tried
Melting them to make her tears she cried
In the end he died by his own men's hands
Karmic poetry for burns left to all touched lands
No longer stationary plucked from her place
The flower drifted softly within an empty space
Her petals could not burn as the others had before
She was grounded to the earth score times four
Uprooted from her place she saw all the empty space
For where beauty had dwelt in the field ashes were in their place
Across the land she wondered with the best
A little world numbed to the rest
Still the fire within her rage
Never to gain escape or to turn the page
A moment etched within her twine
Ashes were a mercy for darkness mine
Lit with only the fire of the day
Her entire world was burned away
Held a field of flowers I tell you so
Legendary beauty you'd have to see
If you truly want to believe me
Among this field of flowers the softest one
